Presentation of Anders LundgrenThe presence of iron ore in the mountain Kirunavaara
gave rise to the city of Kiruna in northern Sweden in the 19th Century. It developed into a lively town, thriving on the mining activities and, increasingly, on tourism. Now that the mining activity is literally undermining the city, the city is in the middle of a process of continuous transformation. Buildings are broken down and rebuilt, a new city centre will develop, and thus the city will gradually move away from the mine. The presentation shows how Kiruna preserves its
identity by taking unconventional methods.
