Presentation of Prof. Dr. Petr Rumpel

The presentation focuses on the industrial development history of the Ostrava-Karvina region, a unique bituminous coal region of the Czech Republic. It portrays the economic, landscape-spatial, and social consequences of mining and the branches of the economy related to it. The focal points of the presentation are case studies of restructuring such as the industrial wasteland Karolina in the center of Ostrava, the stakeholders of this site, as well as the financial and organizational framework conditions and problems.
