Presentation of Prof. Dr. Reinhard F. Hüttl

Sustainable production of woody biomass for energetic purposes is a challenging topic for environmentalpolicy. Post-mining landscapes offer the opportunity to cultivate fast-growing trees without direct competition related to food production. In this context, Alley-Cropping-Systems are an innovative land use option which promotes sustainable soil development on marginal sites. This system can be used simultaneously for the production of biomass as well as agricultural goods. Thus, it integrates ecological with economic advantages at the same area.
