Presentation of Prof. Dr. Jiang Chang

This presentation describes the current situation of energy production and consumption in China, in which coal plays the most important role. Using the city of Xuzhou and the mining region Jiayang as examples,mechanisms of origin and the characteristics of post-mining landscapes will be analyzed. This will be followed by a discussion about how to »revive« these landscapes. The topic is not only reutilisation and the overcoming of land scarcity, but also the bringing together of economic, social and ecological issues.
