Brigitte Scholz

Subsequent to her studies in landscape and open space planning, Brigitte Scholz was active in research and instruction at the University of Hanover as well as a freelancer in different offices. In particular, she critically examined cooperative planning process. She came to Lusatia via Berlin’s Senate Administration. At the IBA she heads the projects section of the IBA Fürst-Pückler-Land and has supervised various projects such as the construction of the IBA Terraces, the conversion of the Lauchhammer Biotowers and the Plessa Power Plant as well as the development of the Cottbus East Lake. Her topical focus is the involvement with the potentials of the “new land” subsequent to mining. She has developed this theme in different international projects, in the IBA Conference “Chance: Post-mining Landscape” 2009 and the involvement in the “Welzow Landscape Project” as well as the “Altdöbern Landscape Work of Art”. The experience of her ten years of IBA work is to be found in the “Ten Principles Concerning the Treatment of Post-mining Landscapes”. Brigitte Scholz has worked half time as a guest professor for regional planning at the Brandenburgian Technical University of Cottbus since October 2009.
