Rita Sandner has always had been concerned with coal. Her parents worked in the Erzgebirge Mountains “in the hard coal”. Thirty years ago she moved to Großräschen, where she had the Meuro Open-Cast Mine on her doorstep and the dust on her laundry. Before she came to the IBA in 2005, she worked, for example, at a microelectronics factory. Now, at the IBA “she holds the purse strings” since all the invoices cross her desk.
